Drug consumes is a drug abuse!

Drug is one of the banes of modern society. It hasn’t spared any religion or section of our society. It is found in rural and urban areas, amongst men and women, rich and poor. The international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking recognises the sever impact that drugs have on health, peace and security. Every year around one lakh ninety thousand people die due to illicit drugs. But still the consumption goes on. Drug use damages health in different forms like HIV, hepatitis and also nourishes deadly terrorism. Corruption also exists throughout the drug supply chain.  Drug mafias have further links with terrorists and smugglers. The habit becomes so confirmed that the victim becomes a slave to the drug. If a drug-addict is unable to get the required drug at the proper time, he or she would be ready to get it at any cost.

To address this problem worldwide companies came along together and an outcome document containing 100 recommendations to solve drug problem was seen.

Drug is also seen as an obstruction to achieve sustainable development. The UNODC on this day, is committed to address the challenge of drugs peacefully and effectively. The key principal is to protect the health and welfare of humankind.

In conclusion, the menace of drugs can be fought. Although drugs seem to be impossible to eliminate, steps can be taken to loosen the hold of drugs on our society. Danger from drugs is too many to ignore. Health is wealth is a popular proverb, but now it needs to be acted upon.
